NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, April 24, 2008.

I was born Marla Denise Brendeland June 7, 1954 to Omar and Valerie Brendeland of rural Huxley. I passed away on April 20, 2008 from breast cancer. In 1976 I married Donald Dean Simmons, Jr. In 1981 our daughter Megan Jill Simmons was born, and in 2005 we gained a son-in-law, Joe Russell. I have a brother Merle Brendeland and a sister Janis Brendeland.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, at the Palestine Lutheran Church of rural Huxley with visitation having been held the evening before. Burial will be at a later date at the Palestine Cemetery.

In addition to my immediate family, those joining me later will be my aunts and uncle, nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends whose memories have made my life so complete.

Please do not send me flowers; send your money to the Des Moines affiliate of Susan G. Komen Organization or Palestine Lutheran Church.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Slater is in charge of arrangements.
