NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, March 20, 2008.
Elizabeth (Betty) Patricia Meier, 68, of Ames, passed away on Feb. 28 at the Israel Family Hospice House.
She was born on Jan. 23, 1940, in St. Louis, Mo., the only child of Benjamin Wagner and Jarvis (Cruckshank) Wagner. She married Joseph H. Meier in 1957. They relocated to Lenox from St. Lotus. They raised four children. Betty was always a devoted mother and became an awesome grandmother. She was employed a brief time at the Lenox School system, before she began her career of 26 years as a certified med aide. She gave excellent nursing care to the residents, as she loved each one of them.
Betty's faith in God guided her life, and her personal relationship with Jesus was expressed through her life, culminating in her baptism and confirmation into the Catholic Church. She enjoyed growing roses, caring for her home, collecting favorite items, playing cards, cooking, picnics and time with her dog, Rocky. She loves and enjoyed friends, especially her neighbor Sandra. She had admiration and appreciation for the medical staff and all caregivers who gently and lovingly cared for her.
Her life is celebrated by her four children: daughter Cathy (Meier) and Dan Bagley of Nevada; sons, Joseph of Lenox, Walter of Arizona, and Ben and Cheryl Meier of Lincoln, Neb.; and her grandchildren, Heather and Danny Bagley, Jennie Meier, Kevin Royalty, Tyler and Brycin Miller.
Preceding Betty in death are her parents; her husband, Joe; companion Wayne McDonald; many aunts and uncles, cousin-in-laws and very dear friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, March 3, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Lenox, Iowa.
