Charles H. "Chuck" See, 72, of Redfield, Iowa formerly of Stuart, passed away February 21, 2008 at the Mercy Hospice of Johnston. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home ? Stuart. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, 123 NE Second Street, Stuart Iowa 50250 (515) 523-1200.
Chuck was born November 1, 1935 to Ben and Myrtle Kahlor See in Maxwell, Iowa. He grew up around the Nevada area and graduated from Nevada High School. Chuck was united in marriage to Mildred C. (Osborn) Bentley on February 27, 1970 in Omaha, Nebraska. Mildred preceded him in death on September 28, 2003. Together they lived in Des Moines before making their home in rural Stuart in 1977. Chuck was a truck driver for Super Valu in Des Moines for 35 years before retiring. After his retirement he worked part-time for Alan Dudley in Stuart. He was a member of the Teamsters Union #147 and the Redfield Lions Club. Chuck enjoyed life to the fullest and loved spending time with his family and friends. After his retirement, Chuck enjoyed meeting with fellow retirees from Super Valu for breakfast in Des Moines. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, working with his livestock, and riding motorcycles.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ben and Myrtle See and his beloved wife Mildred.
Chuck leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, John L. Bentley and his wife Linda of Menlo, Iowa; Charlotte Jackson of Adel, Iowa; Mary Mains and her husband David of Rosemount, Minnesota and Phyllis Ozimek of Clive, Iowa; special friend and companion, Mary Bainter and her family of Redfield, Iowa; brother, Ernie See and his wife Marilynn of Nevada, Iowa and sister, Eva Spencer of Nevada, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; 5 nephews, 1 niece and a host of friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
