James Kenneth Lee, 65, of Collins, died Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the United Methodist Church in Collins, with Pastor Lewis S. Flanigan officiating. Burial will be in the Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.

James was born on February 23, 1942, in Ames to Millard and Mary Alice (Tripp) Lee. He was a graduate of United Community High School and attended Waldorf College in Forest City. On July 14, 1963, Jim married Donna Marie Groomes in Gilbert. He was a farmer. Jim was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in State Center. He enjoyed woodworking.

James is survived by his mother, Mary Lee, of Boone; a son Kenneth (Lori) Lee, of Nevada; 2 daughters, Dawn (Juan) Hernandez, of San Antonio, Texas, and Ronda (Bruce) Vasey, of Collins; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his fianc�e, Nora Holsinger, of Collins; 2 brothers, Warren (Nancy) Lee and EuGene (Birdie) Lee, of Boone.

James was preceded in death by his father in 1992 and his wife on Feb. 29, 1996.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 26, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services, 708 Fifth St. in Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established.
