Judith Henryson Askelson, the daughter of Martin and Luttie Carpenter Henryson, died peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 9, 2008 in Carmichael, California. A memorial service will be held in Story City at a later date.

Judith was born in Story City on Feb. 2, 1916 and graduated from Story City High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Askelson on June 29, 1935 in Story City. To this union was born three sons and a son who died in infancy. After being widowed in 1966, she returned to Story City where she worked at Helland Jewelry. In 1973, she moved to California to live near her son Paul and his family. She remained active in the Lutheran Church. Judith was an unselfish person, who always put the needs of others before her own.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Askelson and their son.

Survivors include her brother, Max Henryson of Iowa City; sons, Paul (Olivia) Askelson of Gold River, California, Loren (Cheryl) Askelson of Woodbridge, Virginia, William (Mary Kate) Askelson of Glendale, Arizona 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
