TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, February 7, 2008.

Robert Ray Coons, age 77, of Slater passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, February 5, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater. Robert's body is to be cremated prior to services.

Robert was born July 12, 1930, in Grant, Iowa, to Jesse and Beulah (Breeling) Coons. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War and was a truck driver for Casey's General Stores until his retirement in 1987.

Survivors include Robert's wife, Nancy, of Slater; four children, Lee (Jodi) Coons of Perry, T.J. (Rick) Patzner of Urbandale, Penny Hensley of Norwalk, and Nichole Coons of Minneapolis; one sister, Helen Shea; and 9 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister and an infant brother.
