Ruth Lucille McCoy 85 of Bethany Manor in Story City, Iowa and formerly of Boone, died Thursday, March 29, 2007.

Ruth was born Nov. 7, 1921 in Boone, Iowa, daughter of Albert and Sara Moore Rasmas. She graduated from Boone High School in 1939. Ruth married David James McCoy on Jan. 12, 1946 at Boone, Iowa.

Ruth worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator for over 20 years, then to retire in 1963.

Ruth was a life long member of the First Baptist Church of Boone. She enjoyed growing flowers around her house, and also going to visit her neighbors.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband and sister Betty Accola.

Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephan David and Lana McCoy of Story City; her three grandchildren, Rachel, Brandon and Jaxon McCoy of Story City.

Visitation was at the Schroeder –Walter Funeral Home on Friday, March 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present at that time, then visitation continued on Saturday morning, March 31 at 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31 at the funeral home with Rev. John Swoyer officiating.

Burial was in the Linwood Park Cemetery of Boone.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers, in memory of Ruth McCoy to the Bethany Manor Rose Garden Fund.
