Barbara Taylor Wendell, 87, of Ames, died Friday, Jan. 25, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Bethany Manor chapel, with viewing one hour preceding the service.

Barbara Taylor Wendell was born Jan. 30, 1920, in Ames. A third-generation Ames resident, she graduated in 1938 from Ames High School and in 1943 from Iowa State College, where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority and enjoyed sculpture classes from Christian Petersen. Her careers included homemaker and licensed real estate agent. She was active in First Methodist Church and in Campfire Girls, Cub Scouts and PTA, among other organizations.

She is survived by two sisters, Margaret (Perry; d.) Crandall, of Pullman, Wash., and Helen (Earnest) Oney, of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.; two sons, Donald T. Davidson Jr. and John (Sherry) Davidson, all of Ames; one daughter, Ann (Mike) Costanzo, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; four grandsons; two granddaughters; and cousins, nephews, nieces and their families spanning four generations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ruby (Britten) Taylor, and by husbands, Donald T. Davidson in 1962, and Connell Wendell in 1995.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
