Donald B. Hanson, 85, of Story City died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial was in the Roland Cemetery.
Donald Hanson was born Jan. 18, 1920 near Stanhope to David C. and Bertha (Enderson) Hanson. He married Betty Arneson on April 25, 1943 at Salem Luthern Church in Roland. He farmed for over 70 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and had been a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Don was a member of Kiwanis Club in Roland and missions, and men's Bible study was important to him. He loved Jesus, family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of Story City; two sons, Steve (Mary) and Donald E. (Cindy), both of Roland; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Gladys Williams of Jewell, Irene Alvestad of Story City and Ila Barrington of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David A.; and four sisters, Elaine Olson, Betty Jane Tegland, Blanche Johnson and Bernice Hove.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
