Dorothy L. Doden, age 86, a resident of the Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard, died on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 20, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Dorothy was buried at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Radcliffe.

The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 at Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe.

Dorothy Lucille Doden was born to Jesse Romp and Emma (Schwartzentruber) Romp on Nov. 8, 1920, in Randall, Iowa. She graduated from Randall High School in 1938 and the Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri, in 1939.

Dorothy worked for the Donnelly Corporation in Nevada, Iowa, until her marriage to Lawrence F. Doden on July 5, 1942. To this union two daughters were born.

She worked for the Legislative Research Bureau for 10 years and retired in 1982 from IMT Insurance Company in Des Moines, Iowa. She and her husband enjoyed 20 marvelous years of retirement in Mesa, Arizona. In 2003, they moved to Story City, Iowa, where they lived until declining health led both of them to the Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard, Iowa.

Dorothy's wonderful sense of humor endeared her to her family and many friends. Her great passions were dancing with her husband of 64 years, spending time with her children and grandchildren and playing the piano with gusto.

On Thursday, August 16, 2007, Dorothy passed away peacefully in her sleep at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Karen and husband Leland Coburn of Radcliffe, Iowa, and Marcia and husband Blaine Jungers of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Angela Coburn of West Des Moines, Iowa and Christopher and wife Ashley Jungers and two great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Blaine Jungers of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, parents, brothers Guy, Glen and Ralph Romp, and sisters Gladys Romp and Inez Knutson.
