THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, December 7, 2007.

Oct. 10, 1948-Dec. 5, 2007

Robert Allen Green, 59, of Ames, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, at his home. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Oakwood Road Church in Ames.

Robert Allen Green was born Oct. 10, 1948, in Ottumwa, the son of George and Sara Lemley Green. He graduated from Burlington High School. He then graduated from Iowa State University in architectural engineering. He was employed at Rudi-Lee-Dreyer and Associates in Ames until 1992. He then became international ministries coordinator for Biblical Institute of Leadership Development International. He was a member of Oakwood Road Church, where he was very involved and enjoyed great friendships, learning and ministry.

He was a single man who focused his life and resources to further the progress of the gospel in his church and around the world. He enjoyed a full, fruitful and satisfying life as he used his gifts through BILD to serve international leaders in their training and church-planting efforts in Albania, Angola, Australia, Bahamas, Benin, Cambodia, Central African Republic, Chad, Chile, Congo, France, Ghana, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Mexico, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, Portugal and Sierra Leone. He was just an ordinary person who, because of his commitment to a vision and his eagerness to serve within that vision, made a very significant contribution with his life and will be missed by many worldwide.

He is survived by his uncle, Reed Green, of Iowa City; aunts, Marilyn Dunwoody, of Atlanta, Ga., Margaret Monroe, of Washington, Iowa, and Mildred Schoemaker, of Washington, Iowa; several cousins; his church family, Oakwood Road Church in Ames; and many international church leaders around the globe, who considered him a beloved brother.

Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
