Nadine Empey, 92, of Cambridge, died Sunday at the Madrid Home in Madrid. Funeral Services were Wednesday at the Cambridge United Methodist Church. Interment was in the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
Nadine was born in Des Moines April 4, 1915 to Ross Charles and Minnie (Reece) Charles. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, she started working at Rollins Hosiery Mill. She married Harry "Dutch" Eberhardt and had 2 children. She married 2 more times and with her last husband, Ivan Empey, moved to Cambridge where she remained until she moved to Florida. She worked for the Iowa State Reciprocity Board and the Joy B. Fitzgerald company before her retirement in 1980. She lived in Florida 14 years before returning to Cambridge. When living in Cambridge, she served on the City Council, the board of directors of Madrid Home, was active in Eastern Star and was a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church and she and Ivan started up Empey Hardware and Furniture store.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Don) Wilson of Cambridge, 2 grandchildren, Robin (Shawn) Jensen of Cambridge, Tracy (Bob) Muhlenburg of Anken;, 3 great-grandchildren Cassie, Whitney and Jesse Muhlenburg; 1 step- grandchild, Autumn Jensen, 3 great-great-grandchildren, Tyreese, Kwinten, Ethan and a sister Marge Wittenbaugh. She was proceeded in death by her parents, a son Jim Eberhardt, a brother Earl Epperson, three husbands, Harry Eberhardt, Bill Elsberry, and Ivan Empey.
Memorials may be made to the Cambridge United Methodist Church.
