DEATH OF CHRIS HARRINGTON
COLLINS GAZETTE 28 NOV 1929
Chris Harrington, 72, for many years a resident of Story county but later years of Janesville, Ia., was found dead in his bed Tuesday morning by Mrs. Harrington, when she went to call him for breakfast, according to word reaching relatives at Colo.
Mr. Harrington, who had lived on a farm between Colo and Collins, in Collins and in Nevada, and had a wide acquaintance over the county, lived at Janesville for a number of years.
Besides his wife he leaves five sons, they being Charles Harrington of Owatonna, Minn., Jessie Harrington of Mason City; Will Harrington of Colo; Claude Harrington of Zearing and George Harrington of Mountain Lake, Minn.
Heart trouble was the cause of his sudden death.
Interment will be in Collins cemetery tomorrow (Friday) afternoon.

Colo, Dec. 2 - Peiple gathered from various points in Colo and Collins Friday to attend the funeral of Chris Harrington, 74, former Story county resident, who had died November 26, at Janesville, Iowa. Prayer service was held at the home of his son Will Harrington in Colo and the funeral was held at the U.B. church in Collins, with Rev. Fisher in charge. Interment was in Collins cemetery.
Christopher Harrington was born in St. Lawrence, New York, July 21, 1855 and died at Jaynesville, Ia., Nov. 26, 1929, age 74 years, 4 months and 5 days. he was the son of Christopher and Julia Harrington. He was united in marriage to Dora Crouch in 1880. To this union was born five sons. The sons are Chas. A. of Owatonna, Minn., Jess I. of Mason City, William J. of Colo, Claude C. of Zearing, George N. of Mt. Lake, Minn., also 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, who with the mother are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father.
Mr. Harrington joined the United Brethern church in 1887 to which faith he still belonged. He was an active member of M.W.A. lodge of Collins and I.O.O.F. of Rhodes. He always stood very high in the estimation of the community in which he lived.
