Last Rites for O. K. Johnson
Former Hardin County Farmer Was Buried Here Saturday Funeral services were held here Saturday for O. K. Johnson, former Hardin county farmer, who died at his home in Roland last Wednesday evening. Rev. Olaf Holen conducted the services at the home and at Salem Lutheran church and was assisted by Rev. H. N. Bakke of McCallsburg. Internment was made in Roland cemetery. The pall bearers were sons and sons- in-law of the deceased, Ernest and Harris Johnson, Arthur Jacobson, Jessie Osmundson, Archie Jacobson and Homer Lewis. Ole K. Johnson, son of Knute and Carrie Johnson, was born February 16, 1870, Morris, Ill., and died at his home in Roland August 16, 1939, at age of 69 years and 7 months. He came to Hardin county when a young boy and started farming. He lived for many years on a farm four miles north and two miles east of Roland, until three years ago when he purchased a residence in Roland where the family now lives. On February 10, 1896, he was united in marriage to Miss Julia Anderson. Six children were born to them, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Clara Jacobson of Roland, Mrs. Grace Osmundson and Mrs. Fern Lewis of McCallsburg, Ernest and Harris Johnson on the farm near Roland and Ora Johnson at home. Besides his wife and children he leaves 11 grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Betsey Leimbeck of Otawa, Ill. One sister and one brother have pre- ceded him in death. Mr. Johnson was baptized and con- firmed by Rev. Heidal and was a member Zion Lutheran church in Hardin County until he moved to Roland when he transferred his membership to Salem congregation. He was a respected citizen of the community in which he lived for so many years and was liberal in his support of the church and other worthy causes. Mr. Johnson had been failing in health for some time and had been bedfast since July 4. Relatives and friends in attendance included Mr. and Mrs. Joe Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johnson and Gladys of Jeffers, Minn.; Mrs. Adolph Tungland of Jackson, Minn.; Mrs. L. A. Cotter, Stanley and Joyce of Spirit Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Anderson and daughter, Richard Anderson, Ed Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Swenson and Mr. and Mrs. Joel Anderson and daughter, of Story City; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Anderson, Burton and Lucille, Mrs. Truman Wicks and children, of Jewell; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Anderson, and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Brown of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Anderson, Obed , Carroll, Marian and Hazel, Mrs. Otus Knutson, Mr. and Mrs. Randall Hatteburg, Mrs. Julia Luglan and Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Anderson, of Radcliffe; Mr. and Mrs. Orval Knutson and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Davis and Darlene of Alden, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Caltvedt of McCallsburg, and the children of the deceased and their families. His sister, Mrs. Betsey Leimbeck of Ottawa, Ill., was unable to come on account of illness.
