THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, November 21, 2007.

Aug. 27, 1918-Nov. 20, 2007

Charles W. Elliott, 89, of Ames, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Ames, with Rev. A. David Digby officiating. Burial will be in Story Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Charles W. Elliott was born Aug. 27, 1918, in Des Moines, to Charles and Nellie B. (Wilson) Elliott. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He worked for the family business before coming to Ames in 1951, then went to work for the Iowa Department of Safety for 22 years, retiring in 1983. He then worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 10 years.

He married Myrna Wilhelm Sept. 14, 1952, in Ames.

He was a member of State Troopers Association, Highway Patrol 20-year club; past member of the American Legion and VFW; and member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Survivors include his wife, Myrna, of Ames; two sons, David W. Elliott, of Jefferson City, Mo., and John W. (Teri) Elliott, of Ames; two granddaughters, Kelsey Sue Elliott, of Ames, and Lindsey Elizabeth Elliott, of Ames; and one sister, Mary E. Beard of Arlington, Texas.

His parents preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Adams Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Heartland Senior Center in Ames.
