THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, November 18, 2007.

Ned Ochiltree Vifquain, 78, of Ames, died Friday, Nov. 16, at Story County Hospital in Nevada. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Adams Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Ned Ochiltree Vifquain was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Ames, the son of Russell M. and Zola (Ochiltree) Vifquain. He married Marylee Rushing. He was a Lieutenant in the Air Force and served in the Korean War. He worked as a social worker at Green Thumb and received a service award for the work he did there.

He is survived by his sons, Scott and his wife, Debby, and Steven and his wife, Lori; daughter Leeann Steen and her husband, Phil; seven grandchildren, Charlie (Lora), Katie (Jim), Dianne (Mike), Will, Trace, Taylor and Derek; four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Madalyn, Olivia and Caleb; sister, Elaine Bath, and her husband, John; a host of nieces and nephews; and dear friends Denny and Glynn Waller and Gary and Marianne Eller.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marylee, in 2004; and two brothers, Robert and Russ Jr.

Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames.

Memorials may be directed to the Story County Hospital Building Fund or Homeward Hospice.
