THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, October 31, 2007.
Lucile M. (McCoy) Lynch, 89, of rural Ames, died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 29, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. A Mass in celebration of her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ames with Father Everett Hemann presiding. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery near Gilbert.
Lucile M. (McCoy) Lynch was born Oct. 7, 1918, in rural Gilbert, to John and Mary (Wilhelm) McCoy. She graduated from Gilbert High School. She married Wilbur "Bill" Lynch June 4, 1940, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church near Gilbert.
She and her husband farmed in rural Ames their entire married life. She was the housekeeper for St. Cecilia Catholic Church rectory for a number of years. She was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for 59 1/2 years and belonged to the St. Thomas Altar Guild. She was dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their farm. She enjoyed farm life, cooking, baking, gardening and crafts.
She is survived by one son, Mike (Marilyn) Lynch, of rural Ames; three daughters, Jan Warren-Catlin (Charles Catlin), of Roseville, Calif., Mary Kay (Jon) Miller, of Fremont, Calif., and LuAnn (Dennis) Sutter, of Ankeny; 11 grandchildren, Terri Bird, Mike W., Dennis, Michelle, Wayne, and Jamie Lynch; Patrick, Christopher, and Sarah Sutter; and Amanda and Amelia Miller; and five great-grandchildren, Dustin, Halle, Brennan, Zachary and Nathan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; four sisters; and one grandson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
