The Rev. Herbert Harold Foxworthy Jr., 77, of Boone, died Saturday, Oct. 27, at home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Napier United Methodist Church in Napier. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Herbert Harold Foxworthy Jr. was born Aug. 26, 1930, in Brazil, Ind. Herb married Bonnie (Ackland) Reger Nov. 4, 1979, in Onawa. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Moving to Iowa in 1957, he graduated from the University of Iowa. He earned a doctorate from Trinity Theological Society in Newburgh, Ind. He was in the ministry for more than 50 years, having served as a United Methodist minister in Millersburg, North Liberty-Tiffin, What Cheer-Delta, Victor-Guernsey, Morgan-Bradford-Lee Center, Nichols-Cedar Valley-Conesville, Onawa-Turin and West Union, where he retired from active ministry in June 1996. He moved to Boone where he served as interim pastor at Marion Street United Methodist Church for one year, and from 2002 until June 2007, he served as interim pastor of Napier United Methodist Church in Napier.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of Boone; one son, Douglas Foxworthy and wife, Diane, of Hesperia, Calif.; two daughters, Karen Lohry and husband, Damon, of Sioux City, and Connie Logeman and husband, Larry, of St. Cloud, Minn.; one stepson, Earl Reger and wife, Erlene, of Ontario, Ore.; one stepdaughter, Mary VandeLune and husband, Douglas, of Kokomo, Ind.; one sister, Barbara Williamson and husband, Paul, of Granger; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-grandson, Christopher Reger.

Friends may call from noon until 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. to the time of service Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Napier United Methodist Church.
