Lois M. Jacobsen, 68, passed from this life on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Mercy Hospice House in Johnston, IA. A funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church located at 900 Park Street; in Tama, Iowa, where the family greeted friends for one hour prior to mass on Thursday. Interment followed at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Tama.
Lois was born on August 24, 1938, in Tama County, Iowa, to Herman and Nellie Frahm Graff. She was a 1956 graduate of Tama High School. Lois married Ronald D. Jacobsen on March 8, 1962 in Circle Pines, MN. They made their home in Polk City, before moving to Sheldahl, 34 years ago. Lois was employed with South Story Bank & Trust for 25 years. She was a member of the Iowa State Council of Senior Citizens and the Iowa State Historical Society. Lois was also very active and did volunteer work for UAW Local 450 Retirees Chapter.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Jacobsen of Sheldahl; daughter, LeAnne Taylor of Richardson, TX; one grandson, Griffin Taylor; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Graff of Tama; three brothers-in-law, Richard (Mignonne) Jacobsen of Green Valley, AZ, Robert Jacobsen also of Tama and Douglas Loftus of Cedar Rapids; two aunts, Vera Graff of Tama and Emma Luttman of Grinnell; and several nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Ann Loftus; and one brother, Lyle Graff.
A visitation was also held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid, where a vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice of Johnston or a favorite charity of donor's charity.
