Pauline L. Augustine, 86, of Circleville, Ohio, and formerly of Ames, died Wednesday, May 23, at Pickaway Manor, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 E. Mound St., in Circleville, with Pastor Karen Kepner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Her serving continues in death by her anatomical donation to the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Pauline L. Augustine was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Sioux City, the daughter of Carl A. and Mable (Lee) Vorhes. She graduated from Evangelical Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Marshalltown, and worked as a registered nurse. She and her husband also owned and operated Ames Engraving Company. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Circleville, Ohio, she was a member of the Couples Club and the Monday Morning Bible Study group. She lived her faith by serving others. While living in West Lafayette, Ind., she volunteered at the public library. After moving to Circleville, she was a volunteer at Berger Hospital. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and visiting those in nursing homes.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert "Bob" Augustine; three daughters, Mary (Jack) Johnson, of San Diego, Edie (Donald) Bachman, of Circleville, Ohio, and Lynn Hade, of New York City; grandchildren, Aaron Johnson, Jamie (Tiffany) Bachman, Melissa Johnson, Rebecca (Barth) Pobee, Kristin (Kursat) Sendur and Anna Hade; brother, Arthur (Barbara) Vorhes; and sister-in-law, Chris Vohres.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Carl Vorhes.

Known for her salty observation that "old age isn't for sissies," Pauline's last months of sickness were especially trying for her. Though she will be missed, her family rejoices in Pauline's final healing and homecoming to God.
