Leone E. Buland, 85, of Story City, died May 19, at Kavanaugh House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.

Leone E. Buland was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Radcliffe, to Lewis and Emma (Olson) Pederson. She married Laverne Buland Jan. 10, 1941, in Radcliffe. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Roland.

She is survived by two daughters, Jann Smith of Shawnee, Kan., and Joan (Bill) Nassif, of Des Moines; one sister, Joyce Clemen, of Lakeland, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Alexandra and James Nassif, both of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, LuVerne Pederson; and two sisters, Pearl Burkart and Ruby Proctor.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to the Arthritis Foundation or Salem Lutheran Church.
