Harriett Lamphere Hopkins Geisler, age 90, of Ames and formerly of Boone, died Friday, April 20, 2007, at the Story County Medical Center-Long Term Care. Her body has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Friday, April 27, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. Burial of her cremains will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery west of Boone.

Harriett was born in Logansport, Iowa, on July 13, 1916, the daughter of John and Lula (Bowen) Lamphere. She graduated from Boone High School. On October 14, 1933, Harriett married Lowell M. Hopkins in Boone. The couple later divorced. She later married Earl Geisler. Harriett was a cook at several Boone restaurants and most recently, the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

She was a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge in Nevada. She and her husband, Lowell, drove a stagecoach at the Garden of the Gods in Manitou Springs, Colorado, for the Governor and other dignitaries. She enjoyed making dolls and doll clothes, gardening, canning, cooking, and was noted for her chicken and noodles. Harriett was active with Toys for Tots.

She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two daughters, Patricia Martin and Nancy Jones; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four brothers; and five sisters.

Harriett is survived by four daughters, Joyce Keith of Ellicott, Colorado, Shirley Calmer and Lola Sorenson, both of Boone, and Peggy Jack and husband, Fred, of Bay City, Texas; two sons, Jim Hopkins of Boone and John Hopkins and wife Rosalee of Yoder, Colorado; a foster son, Al Norlin of Norwalk; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. When Harriett was alive, the number of descendants from five generations totaled over 200.

Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. where the family will be present. Visitation continues Friday at the funeral chapel from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and then at the Church from noon until service time.
