Donald Kaufman, 77, of Colo, died Wednesday, March 28, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services are pending with Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Donald Andrew Kaufman, 77, of Colo, died Wednesday, March 28, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colo. Burial, with military rites, will follow in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Nevada.
Donald Andrew Kaufman was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Fernald, to Andrew J. and Velma Elizabeth (Donaldson) Kaufman. He was a 1947 graduate of Fernald High School. He married Bertha Bland Sept. 6, 1952, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshalltown. He served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was supervisor in shipping and receiving at R.H. Donnelley Corp in Nevada and also engaged in farming. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colo and the Experimental Aircraft Association in Ankeny. He also had served on the Colo School Board. He enjoyed rebuilding his airplane and attending his grandchildren's activities.
Donald is survived by his wife, Bertha Kaufman, of Colo; four sons, Steven (Rita) Kaufman, of Hampton, Michael (Debra) Kaufman, of Nevada, Dean (Marcy) Kaufman, of Colo, and David (Lisa) Kaufman, of Longview, Texas; one daughter, Donna (Stephen) Smith, of Markesan, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Dick Kaufman, of Grey Summit, Mo., and Robert Kaufman, of Urbandale; four sisters, Jean Henn, of Sun City West, Ariz., Jurene Kenworthy, of Mercer Island, Wash., Karen Morris, of Apple Valley, Minn., and Charlene Maes, of Olympia, Wash.; and two aunts, Salome Roesch, of Piopolis, Ill., and Genevieve Cook, of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Delores Kaufman.
Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada. A Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with Donald's arrangements.
