Kathryn E. Telford died Wednesday, March 21, at Madrid Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater. Family will receive friends at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the church.
Kathryn E. Telford was born Aug. 17, 1913, the daughter of Bertha and Hadley Nervig of Slater. She graduated from Slater High School and later attended Northern Iowa University for two years and received her teaching certificate, majoring in elementary education. She taught at several towns in Iowa before marrying Dr. George Telford. They had one son, Thomas, who is currently in civil service at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
After her husband, George, retired from being a professor at Drake University in Des Moines, he and Kathryn moved to Leisure World in California and enjoyed 20 years there before he succumbed to serious illness. She subsequently moved to Madrid Home in June 1997, enjoying her stay there for many years.
Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater is in charge of arrangements.
