Janice Claire Stephens, 63, formerly of Nevada, died Wednesday, March 14, at her home in Ames. Funeral services are pending with Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Janice Clare Stephens, 63, formerly of Nevada, died Thursday, March 15, at her home in Ames. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th St., in Nevada with Pastor David R. Burling officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St., in Nevada.
Janice Clare Stephens was born Oct. 7, 1943, in Carroll, the daughter of Victor A. (Johnny) and Loretta J. (Feilmeyer) Schirck. The family moved to Colo in 1947, and Janice graduated from Colo Community School.
She worked for the R. H. Donnelley Corporation in Nevada as a secretary, home typist and keypunch operator. In 1974, she joined the 3M Company in Ames retiring in 1998 as senior secretary.
She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church and helped with the church's care groups.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff (Annie) Montgomery, of Adel, and Jerry Montgomery, of Ames; three daughters, Janelle (Ken) Ferguson, Jayla (Rick) Barker and Janese (Terry) Milam, all of Nevada; six grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; one brother, John Schirck, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and one sister, Sherry Francis, of Fort Dodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dean Schirck.
Memorials may be sent to Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.
