NEVADA - Reis Prati, 90, of Nevada died March 3, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be Thursday, March 8th,, 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Church in Nevada with burial at St Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
Reis was born January 9, 1917 in Carney, Iowa to Adolfo and Eva (Bini) Prati. At the age of five he returned with his family to Italy. As a young man he came back to the United States in 1938. He worked briefly in the Schuler Coal Mine in Waukee, Iowa. He later became a bricklayer.
He married Freda Rocchi on October 2, 1941, at St. Patrick's Church in Nevada.
Over the years Reis worked on many landmark construction projects in Nevada and the surrounding area. In addition to spending time with his family and grandchildren, he enjoyed gardening, dancing, exercising and traveling. He especially enjoyed the many bus trips over the years.
Reis was a member of St Patrick's Church, Knights of Columbus, Vittoria Lodge and Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Freda and four children: Anita (Gary) Bates of Ames; Richard (Dianna) Prati of Eagle Pass, Texas; Angela (Steven) Sawyers of Marion, Iowa and Randy (Shelley) Prati of Urbandale; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
A memorial fund has been established.
Bacon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
