Olga E. Twedt of Huxley, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at Mary Greeley Hospital. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley with Pastor Tom Hilger officiating. Burial was Monday, March 5, at Fjeldberg Church Cemetery.
Olga Twedt was born on December 31, 1914 in Worchester, MA, to John and Emma (Hammarstrom) Quarnstrom. She moved to Hudson, SD, with her parents at two years of age. Here she attended school, graduating valedictorian of her class. She married Bennie Twedt on January 10, 1935 in Hudson. Shortly after, they moved to Iowa and farmed in the Huxley and Cambridge area.
Prior to her death, Olga lived at Ballard Creek Community in Huxley where she enjoyed her many friends, family visits, quilting, card playing, crossword puzzles, and many phone calls.
She is survived by four sons, Bert (Pat) of Slater, Ken (Carol) of Elkhart, John (Barb) of Cambridge, and Ron (Colleen) of Huxley; 1 daughter, Mary (David) Halverson of Huxley; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Twedt of Huxley; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Ted Quarnstrom of Hudson, SD; and 1 sister, Ruth Feeldy of Grand Junction, CO.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; and one son, Bob, in 2006.
Visitation was one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials may be given to the church. Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater was entrusted with arrangements.
