Anna Harriet (Sheldahl) Hokel, 99, of Slater, passed away peacefully Jan. 25, at Riverside Manor in Ames. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater with Pastor Heidi Williams and Pastor Bruce Thomas (grandson) officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Slater.Anna Harriet (Sheldahl) Hokel was born March 21, 1907, at home in Roland to Henry and Anna (Johnson) Sheldahl. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. She married Ben Hokel Jan. 1, 1927, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater.
She had been employed at the Ordinance Plant in Ankeny, the Creamery and the Egg Plant in Slater and Collegiate Manufacturing in Ames. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bridge and 500. She belonged to a church circle and many clubs.
She is survived by one son, Carl (Marilyn) Hokel, of Huxley; three daughters, Betty Snider, of Ames, Marilyn (Steve) Thomas, of Ames, and Karen Wiles, of Des Moines; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Sheldahl, of Fort Dodge, and Ruth Ryg, of Ballard Creek in Huxley; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many beloved family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Phyllis Milani; three sons-in-law, Keith Snider, Sonny Wiles and Rico Milani; her parents; five sisters; four brothers; and one great-grandson.
A visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
Memorial contributions may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater.
