Talmer A. Tjelmeland, 79, of McCallsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 25, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Zearing. Services are pending at Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing.

Talmer A. Tjelmeland, 80, of Zearing, died Jan. 25 at Colonial Manor, in Zearing. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Bethany Lutheran Church, in McCallsburg. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.
Talmer was born March 18, 1926, in Roland, to William and Bertha (Anfinson) Tjelmeland. He was a lifelong resident of Zearing and McCallsburg, attending school in McCallsburg. He farmed most of his life and served two years in the Coast Guard. Talmer was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, in McCallsburg, where he served as a trustee. He was a member of the McCallsburg American Legion Post No. 334 for more than 50 years. He enjoyed farming, traveling and his family.
He is survived by five sons, Carrol (Karen) Tjelmeland, of Nevada, David (Patty) Tjelmeland, of Huxley, Norman (Vickie) Tjelmeland, of Zearing, Dale (Wendy) Tjelmeland, of Nevada, and Ron (Deb) Tjelmeland, of Zearing; one daughter Anita (Alan) Johnson, of Iowa Falls; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Bernice Strother, of McCallsburg; three brothers, Vern (Chris) Tjelmeland, of Brownsburg, Ind., Dwayne (Betty) Tjelmeland, of Roland, and Marion Tjelmeland, or Topeka, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Tjelmeland; his parents; and two brothers.
A visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Bethany Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church.
