TRI-COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, January 11, 2007.
Randall C. Thompson, age 85, of the Madrid Home, formerly of Huxley, died Saturday, January 6 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley.
Randall was born November 11, 1921, in Ames, Iowa to Randall F. and Celia (Richardson) Thompson. He graduated from Huxley High School and attended Iowa State College. Following his service in the Air Force, he became a dairy farmer. He was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was a member of the church council and the Ballard School Board. He was a member of the Iowa and National Holstein Associations, the Dairy Shrine Club, Mid America Dairy Association and Story County DHIA.
In 1946 he married Mary Jane Hansen in Webster City, Iowa. They are the parents of four sons, James, DVM (Linda, DVM) of Huxley, Charles (Sybil) of Almena, Wisconsin, Stephen (Brenda) and Phillip (Zenaida) of Sedro-Woolley, Washington.
Surviving him are his wife, Mary Jane of the Madrid Home; his sons; seven grandchildren, Lindsay, Nicholas, Breanna, Dane, Molly, Taylor, and Copio; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Henry and Milford Thompson.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 12, 2007, 6-8 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church or the Madrid Nursing Home in Madrid.
Services are entrusted to the Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater, Iowa.
