Randall C. Thompson, 85, of Huxley, died Saturday, Jan. 6, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley.

Randall C. Thompson was born Nov. 11, 1921, in Ames, to Randall F. and Celia (Richardson) Thompson. He graduated from Huxley High School and attended Iowa State College. Following his service in the U.S. Air Force, he became a dairy farmer. He was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was a member of the church council and the Ballard School Board. He was a member of the Iowa and National Holstein Associations, the Dairy Shrine Club, Mid America Dairy Association and Story County DHIA.

He married Mary Jane Hansen in 1946 in Webster City. They are the parents of four sons, James, DVM (Linda, DVM), of Huxley, Charles (Sybil), of Almena, Wis., Stephen (Brenda) and Phillip (Zenaida), of Sedro-Woolley, Wash.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, of Madrid Home; his sons; seven grandchildren, Lindsay, Nicholas, Breanna, Dane, Molly, Taylor and Copio; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Henry and Milford Thompson.

A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church or Madrid Nursing Home in Madrid.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater is in charge of arrangements.
