Dennis E. Stoneberg, 57, of Ames, died Thursday, Jan. 4, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Arrangements are pending with Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Dennis E. Stoneberg, 57, of Ames, died Thursday, Jan. 4, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames with burial following in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Dennis E. Stoneberg was born April 11, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, to Everett and Lola (Mentzer) Stoneberg. He graduated from Ames High School in 1967. Following his service in the Air Force, he graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in electrical engineering. He was employed by the Federal Communications Commission and worked in Nebraska, Alaska and Maryland. He retired in 2004.

He was a member of Collegiate United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader and had a passion for railroading, especially steam locomotives.

He is survived by his sisters, Marian (Kevin) Kelly, of Lincoln, Neb., and Linda (James) Carollo, of Cedar Rapids; and niece, Kristen Carollo, of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Collegiate United Methodist Church or the Engineering Excellence Fund of Iowa State University.
