TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, December 28, 2006.

Christie J. Logsdon, 84, of Maxwell died December 22, 2006 at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada.

Christie was born January 12, 1922 in Slater, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Celia Heggem Skola. Christie graduated from the Shipley High School in Shipley, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Floyd Logsdon in 1950. Floyd preceded her in death in 1975. Christie had worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 11 years before getting married. She and her husband where in the grocery business for 10 years in Guthrie, Iowa. They then moved to Maxwell, Iowa where they owned and operated Logsdon Grocery. Christie worked in the store until 1985 and was seen often after that working in the store until her death. She was a member of the Maxwell Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 249. Christies loved her grandchildren, the New York Yankees and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

She is survived by her four children: daughter Janice (Dennis) Whaley, son, Thomas Logsdon, daughter, Julie (Michael) McCord and son, Jay (Sue) Logsdon, all of Maxwell; six grandchildren: Ben McCord of Osceola, IA, Kim (Dar) Pohlman of Maxwell, T.J. (Kaylen) McCord of Overland Park, KS, Mark Whaley of Collins, IA, Jill Logsdon of Maxwell, IA, Rachel Logsdon of Des Moines, IA; two great-grandchildren: Gemma and Keegan Pohlman of Maxwell, IA; her sister: Millie (Karl) Frantzen of Omaha, NE, and her brother, Don Skola of Ames, IA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Dorothy Bauer; step-sisters: Alberta Beal, Evelyn Townsend, Maxine Thompson; and a sister-in-law: Bette Skola.

Graveside services were at 1:00 PM Tuesday, Dec. 26, at the Maxwell Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is in charge of arrangements.
