Mrs Nellie Haverly, 87, formerly of 802 Kellogg Ave, died Friday, at ll:22 am at Mary Greeley Hospital where she had been a patient since November 9. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 pm from Adams Funeral Home with the Rev Roy C. Key of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery. Mrs Haverly, born July 12, 1882 in Ellsworth, Ill, moved to Ames with her parents a year later. In 1902, she married John W. Haverly who preceded her in death Aug 28, 1936. She belonged to the First Christian Church, the Woman's Rotary Club, the Singular Club, Pythian Sisters and Woman's Relief Corps. During the Ames Centennial in 1964, Mrs Haverly was one of the Centennial Dames. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Norma Bennett, St Paul, Minn and Mrs Ardis Dodds, Route 1; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bertha Epperson of Riverside Manor, Mrs Fannie Heggen, 1017 Duff Ave; Mrs Fae Worley, Bloomington, Ill and Mrs Beulah Corl, Boone. In addition to her husband, Mrs Haverly was preceded in death by a son, Lyle A, in Aug 1941, an infant daughter, Dorothy Ann and a grand-daughter, Mary Lou Dodds in 1935. The body will lie in state at Adams Funeral Home Sunday afternoon until time of services.
