Della Lorraine Cook
Della Lorraine Cook, 88 of Nevada died on Thursday, October 26 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 29 at Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor David Burling officiating. Burial followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Della was born on October 7, 1918 in Monroe County, Iowa to Benjamin and Sarah (Courtney) Lundy. She was raised by foster parents, the Trettin family of Mason City. She was a graduate of Grafton Iowa High School. On February 14, 1954, Della married Donald Fredrick Cook in Nevada. She retired in 1980 as a telephone operator for General Phone Co. Della was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church. She enjoyed transporting people to their appointments and volunteering at the school reading program.
Della is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Miller of St. Louis, Missouri; a sister, Anna Mae Fontana of Louisville, KY; and 2 grandchildren, Debbi Johnson of O'Fallon, MO and Steve Scott of Denver, CO; 2 great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild.
Della was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on January 31, 1969, sisters Eleanor Dingeman, Julia, Leatha, Mary, brothers, Marvin and Cecil, and a grandchild.
