THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, October 13, 2006.

Roy C. Key, 88 of Rogers, Ark., died Thursday, Oct. 12, in Rogers. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with the Rev. Chris Pulliam officiating. A second memorial service will be held at a later date at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ames.

He was born March 30, 1918, in Town Creek, Ala., a the son of Charlie J. and Sudie Wright Key. Throughout his 67 years of ministry, he served the Church of Christ and the (Disciples of Christ) and retired from the First Christian Church in Ames. He received a doctor of ministry from Union Theological Seminary in 1981. After he and his wife moved to Rogers in 1983, he served as interim minister in Springdale and Bentonville. While living in Ames, he was active in local government and founded Keystone, the first assisted living center for low-income families. He was a dedicated husband and an author.

He is survived by his adored wife, Evelyn Ellis Key of the home. (They were married June 12, 1942, in Alhambra, Calif.); their children Annedale (Key) Raklovits of Wadsworth, Ohio, Marc Key of Ojai, Calif., Charlie Key of Knoxville, Dana Key of Aurora, Colo., and Michelle Key of Fayetteville, Ark.; two brothers, Raymond Key, of Katy, Texas, Harold Key, of Pasadena, Texas; and one sister, Wayne Louise Painter of Sheffield, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
