Clark S. Helland, 84, of Huxley, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Madrid Nursing Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley with the Rev. Tom Hilger officiating. Burial will be in Fjeldberg Church Cemetery.

Clark was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Huxley to Sanford and Clara (Torgerson) Helland. He was a lifetime resident of Huxley. He worked as a farmer until his retirement in 1992. He served two years in the Army.

He married Janice Saunier Aug. 18, 1951, in Bay City, Mich. He was a member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, of Huxley; two sons, Mike (Juli) and Charles Helland, of Huxley; one daughter, Phyllis (Ray Morse) Helland, of Eugene, Ore.; two sisters, Ivy Juon, of Alleman, and Marie Knappe, of Cedar Rapids; and six grandsons, Dustin, Ryan, Erik (Sandi), Nick (Cara), Jeremy and Andrew.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Seerley; and one sister, Doris.

A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater is in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to Fjeldberg Lutheran Church and/or Madrid Home.
