Roy Franklin Thomas

ELDORA - Roy Franklin Thomas, 87, passed away September 7, 2006 in Eldora, IA.

He was born August 20, 1919 in Norwalk, CA, to P.K. and Maudie Thomas. He was one of four children. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, being stationed in New Guinea. In June of 1947 he was united in marriage to Betty Jane Womack and three children were born to this union. Roy and Betty lived in Chino, CA while raising their family and during this time they were foster parents to many children. Roy's occupation was in the carpenter-contracting business for quite a few years and he went on to work in maintenance at the Boy's Republic in Chino. He was a 4-H Leader in the Rabbit Program for 10 years while living in California. After retirement he and Betty traveled the United States for many years. In 1998 they settled in Yuma, AZ. He was a member of the Immanuel Southern Baptist Church in Yuma.
Roy is survived by his daughter, Karen (Paul) Cody of Colo, IA, who he made his home with after the death of his wife; his daughter, Judith (Robert) Stumpf, of Yorba Linda, CA; and his son, Mitchell Thomas, of Reno, NV; seven grandchildren; five great grand-children; and his sisters, Alma Hermans and Louise Thorsheim, both of California.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Betty; and a brother, Kenneth.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 16th at 11:00 AM. at the Colo United Methodist Church, Colo, IA with Pastor Jim Roth officiating.

Bacon Funeral Home & Crematory in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
