Bill Estrem
Bill Estrem, 60, a lifelong resident of Slater, died Thursday, Aug. 10, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
He was born Jan. 17, 1946, in Des Moines to Casper T. and Imogene (Brazelton) Estrem.
Bill was a carpenter and was employed at Ballard Community School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran.
On Oct. 12, 1968, Bill married Ardis Proehl. He was president of Bell Harbor Home Owners Association Board; member of Slater Community Club, Park Board, Building Committee at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, previous member of Slater Council and Bethlehem Church Council. Bill was interested in sports.
Survivors include his wife Ardy of Slater; three sons, Lynn of Des Moines, Mark (Tina) of Slater and Kurt (April) of Slater; three grandchildren, Clay, Cael and Aubrey; parents, Cap and Imogene Estrem of Ames; two sisters, Shelley (Marc) Lott of Ames and Sharman Niss of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the Ballard High School gymnasium in Huxley with the Rev. Heidi Williams of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in the Slater City Cemetery.
Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorial are requested to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Building Fund.
