THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, August 12, 2006.
With this column we celebrate the life of Bobetta Louise Keller, of Ames, who died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 11. A family memorial service will be in Lincoln, Neb., at a future date.
Keller was born on Aug. 10, 1927, in Shenandoah, to Herbert A. Betz and Ida B. Betz Long. She was one of five daughters. After Herbert's death, the family moved to Lincoln, Neb., where Ida later married William (Pop) Long.
On Aug. 13, 1944, Bobbye married Donald V. Keller in Marysville, Kan. Sixty-two years of marriage brought them three children; Marsha Lynn Widdows (deceased), Susan R. (Vernon) Mitchell and Donald B. (Linda) Keller; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Bobbye was very close to her four sisters; Marcella Romig (deceased), Sylvia Lambert, Janice Hibbert and Janet Aksamit and their families.
Bobbye loved life. She always had a warm smile, cheery hello and a hug for anyone who wanted one or needed one. She was passionate about music, a wonderful pianist, an avid reader, loved sports (Go Big Red!) and cared deeply for her dogs. She frequently shared warm, many times funny, stories of growing up with her four sisters. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her very much.
No memorial has been established. Bobbye cared deeply for children and animals if you care to make a donation in her name to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are being made by the Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa.
