CHAMBERLAIN, CLARISSA BACCUS (MRS. OLIVER CHAMBERLAIN) 1819-1884
THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 24, 1884, page 8, column 2. “CAMBRIDGE ITEMS – DIED – At her home ¼ mile south of Cambridge, Friday Apr 11th, at 11 o’clock Mrs. Clarissa Chamberlain. She was born in Wheelersburg, Ohio, in May 1819, and was therefore nearly 65 years old. Her maiden name was Baccus. She married Oliver Chamberlain Jan 2nd 1838. Mrs. Chamberlain was the mother of 13 children; 8 boys and 5 girls, eight of whom (5 boys and 3 girls), are living. They moved to this county in 1857 and have lived here ever since. Mrs. Chamberlain has been an invalid for ten years. She bore her sufferings with a degree of patience seldom equaled. She was buried Sunday, April 13th in the graveyard N. W. of town.”
