Opal Maxine Kassel
NEVADA-Opal Maxine Kassel, 78, of Nevada, died July 20, 2006 in Jasper County.
Opal was born August 7, 1927 at Rockford, Iowa, the daughter of Lee and Hazel (Mosher) Wood. Opal graduated from Rockford High School. On September 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to Raymond Kassel in Mason City, Iowa. Opal was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ of Nevada, the Christian Women Fellowship, was an active volunteer in her church and the Girl Scouts. Opal loved her roses, gardening, her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Opal is survived by husband, Raymond Kassel of Nevada; one son, Kevin Kassel of Ankeny; two daughters and a son-in-law: Rosalyn (Ron) Dunblazier of Maxwell, Stephanie Kassel of Coralville; 2 grandchildren: Brian (Michelle) Dunblazier, Megan Dunblazier; and a great-granddaughter: Kennedy Vasey.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ in Nevada. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to The Christian Church of the Upper Midwest, or the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ of Nevada.
The Bacon Funeral Home of Nevada was in charge of arrangements.
