Carol I. Long
Carol I. Long, 78 of Collins died on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at the Story County Long Term Care in Nevada. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 28 at the Collins Christian Church with Pastors Scott Jones and Dean Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.
Carol was born on October 24, 1927 in Jasper County to Fred and Verda (Hinshaw) Kimberley. She was a graduate of Collins High School. On May 29, 1946, Carol married Forrest Long in Des Moines. She and her husband farmed their land together. Carol was a member of the Collins Christian Church. She enjoyed University of Iowa basketball and loved being with her family.
Carol is survived by 3 daughters, Jeanette Hinton of Collins, Nancy (Perry) Upchurch of Colo, and Sue (Jay) Logsdon of Maxwell; 2 sisters, Lois Altes of Collins and Mildred Fertig of Ft. Worth, TX; 5 granddaughters, Stefani (Dan) Wonders, Amy (Brad) Kohlwes, Jennifer (Andy) Kelly, Jill and Rachel Logsdon; and 3 great grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Forrest Long on August 18, 1978 and a sister Barb Carroll.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27 with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M. at Collins Christian Church.
A memorial fund has been established.
Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with Carol's arrangements.
