Opal Maxine Kassel, 78, of Nevada, died Thursday, July 20, 2006 in Jasper County.
Opal was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Rockford, the daughter of Lee and Hazel (Mosher) Wood. Opal graduated from Rockford High School. On Sept. 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to Raymond Kassel in Mason City. Opal was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ of Nevada, the Christian Women Fellowship and was an active volunteer in her church and the Girl Scouts. Opal loved her roses, gardening, her grandchildren and great-grand daughter.
Opal is survived by husband, Raymond Kassel of Nevada; one son, Kevin Kassel of Ankeny; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rosalyn (Ron) Dunblazier, of Maxwell, and Stephanie Kassel, of Coralville; two grandchildren, Brian (Michelle) Dunblazier and Megan Dunblazier; and a great-granddaughter, Kennedy Vasey.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Nevada. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
Memorials may be directed to The Christian Church of the Upper Midwest or the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ of Nevada.
The Bacon Funeral Home of Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
