Donna Mae Schradle, 68, of Ames, died Friday, July 7, at Israel Family Hospice House. A memorial service was Monday, July 10, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Todd Jenks officiating. A graveside service was Monday, July 10, at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Donna was born on Sept. 9, 1937, in Marshalltown, to David and Ruth (McCoy) Kolbe. She married Gerald Schradle Dec. 14, 1957, in State Center. She worked as a secretary in the Department of Construction Engineering at Iowa State University for 20 years before she retired in 2001.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxillary and a Sigma Lambda Chi honorary member.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald, of Ames; her mother, Ruth Kolbe, of Story City; three sons, James (Jean) Schradle, of Chugiak, Ala., Jeffrey (Michelle) Schradle, of Midwest City, Okla., and David Huckins (Guardian Son), of Leavenworth, Kan.; three brothers, Duane Kolbe, of Zearing, Donald Kolbe (twin brother), of Story City, and Gary Kolbe, of Geneva, Ill.; one sister, Karen Baker, of Elmhurst, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Alexandra and Kristofer Schradle and Sean Hanus.

She was preceded in death by her father, David, and brother, Delos.

A visitation was Sunday, July 9, at Adams Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.
