Benjamin Joseph Peterson, 22, of Ames, died Friday, July 7, in Ames. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Grand Avenue Baptist Church, with Pastor Kip Hamby officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Benjamin was born Sept. 30, 1983, to Richard Peterson and Mary Marino in Ames. He lived in Ames his entire life, graduating from Ames High in 2002. He was attending DMACC. He was a server at Hickory Park restaurant and a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating in Leech Lake, Minn., and was an avid reader.

He is survived by his father, Rick (Pam) Peterson, of Ames; his mother, Mary Marino, of Kenmore, N.Y.; three siblings, Andrew D. Peterson, Lily E. Peterson and Daniel C. Peterson, all of Kenmore, N.Y.; and grandmother, JoAnn C. Peterson, of Ames.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David T. Peterson; grandparents, Joseph A. and Neta Marino; and aunt Christine Dolezal.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., today at Adams Funeral Home with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boys and Girls Club of Ames.
