The Roland Record, Roland, Story County, Iowa, April 23, 1897.

Amid the pealing of the Easter bells last Sabbath morning, the solemn tolling of one bell announced that another soul had been wafted into the great unknown. The death was a particularly sad and touching owing to the fact that the young lady whose death the tolling bells told of, would, but for the cold hand of fate, been a happy bride of two weeks, upon this beautiful Easter morn.

Annie E. Skorgerboe was born near Stavanger, Norway, in 1869 and died at the home of A. D. Johnson, near Roland, at 9:30, on Sunday morning, April 18th 1897. In 1890 she left her native land for America, and came direct to Roland, where she has since made her home. She leaves three brothers and a sister in Marshalltown and one brother who lives near Roland. The deceased was to have been married to George Johnson, a prosperous young farmer of our community on March 30, the invitations having been issued and the trousseau prepared when she was attacked with typhoid fever, from which she never recovered. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Sandven at Salem's church, Tuesday afternoon and although rain was pouring down at that hour numerous friends assembled to pay thier last tribute of respect to the deceased.
