Jergan Jay Ratashak, 40, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Ames, died Tuesday, July 4, at Pinicon Ridge Park in Central City. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Guests are requested to dress casually to honor Jergan.

Jergan was born Oct. 15, 1965, in Mason City, the son of George M. and Shirley (Knight) Ratashak. He attended Ames High School. He worked as manager at Speed Lube in Marion.

Survivors include his fiancé, Tammy LeMaster, and his cat, Sassy, of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Shirley Ratashak, of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Rhonda (Todd) Kibsgaard, of Marion; one brother, Rob (LouAnn) Ratashak, of Ames; and his very special niece and nephew, Robyn and Jerrad Kibsgaard.

He was preceded in death by his father, George, who died in 1986.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. An informal gathering will be hosted by the family following the memorial service at a location to be announced the day of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his memory.
