Irene Ida Wilhelmina Hynes, 89 of rural Nevada died on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada due to internal bleeding. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 14 at the United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Irene was born on April 2, 1917 in Hardin County to Ernest and Grace (Hein) Lehmeier. She married James W. Hynes in December of 1938 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Irene enjoyed the agricultural lifestyle, raising geese and helping with the farmland, as well as employment by R. H. Donnelley's in Nevada, Benson Optical and Bourns in Ames. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nevada. Irene enjoyed antiques, collectibles, and setting up at flea markets. She loved all animals, especially cats, dogs and birds.

Irene is survived by a son, Larry Hynes of Mexico, Missouri; a daughter, Jolene Hynes of Ames; and 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James on July 16,1984, a son John at age 52, and daughters Linda at age 31 and Sandra in infancy.

Memorials may be directed to the Story County Animal Center in Nevada.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada was entrusted with Irene's arrangements.
