TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, June 15, 2006.

Welline (Willene) Rebecca Klonglan, 96, of Story City, formerly of Nevada died on Sunday, June 11, 2006 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 16, at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg and Chaplain Sandy Anenson officiating. Burial will be held in the Slater Municipal Cemetery south of Slater.

Welline was born on June 1, 1910 on the home farm near Huxley to Olai (Ole) and Enger (Severeid) Maland. She was baptized and confirmed at Palestine Lutheran Church near Huxley. She was a 1929 graduate of Huxley High School. On October 23, 1930, Welline married Bernie R Klonglan at the Palestine Lutheran Church near Huxley. She was a farm wife and also employed by R. H. Donnelley's. Welline was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church and the Richland Township Neighbor Club. She was a lifelong resident of Story County. Welline enjoyed traveling and researching family heritage. She was proud of the four family genealogical histories she authored. A highlight of her genealogical work was a visit to Norway in 1988 to visit her ancestral families, farms and villages.

Welline is survived by 2 sons, Eugene D. Klonglan (Sylvia) of Farmington, New Mexico and Gerald E. Klonglan (Eileen) of Ames; 1 sister, Viola Peterson of Kelley; 3 grandchildren, Kirsten Jansma (Michael) of Fruita, Colorado, Jason B. Klonglan of Omaha, Nebraska, and Suzanne Potts (James) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 4 great grandchildren, Levi S. Jansma, Dalton M. Jansma, and Rachel Jansma, and Carolyn R. Potts.

Welline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bernie on July 13, 1984, a grandson Eric Klonglan on November 4, 2003, 5 brothers, Johnnie, Jeff, Omar, Ellsworth, and Richard, and 2 sisters, Elenora Maland and Ruth Gumtau.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 15 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Welline's name for the Memorial Lutheran Church Global Fund or the Bethany Life Communities Chaplaincy Endowment Fund.
